Roland Kenton passed away at his home in Mamaroneck on March 7, 2010; he was born October 28, 1918. A longtime resident of Larchmont, he grew up on Long Island, graduated from the University of Southern California in 1940 and was designated a U.S. Naval Aviator in 1941. He received the Navy Cross in 1942, served on the USS WASP CV-7 (which was torpedoed and sunk at Guadalcanal) and received three Air Medals in Korea. He was president of Thermopatch Corp. in the Bronx for many years. He served on the Westchester County Airport Advisory Board, as president of Bantam Lake Protective Assoc., & was a member of several Naval fraternal organizations.
Predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Doris Conklin Kenton in 1999, and by Marcella Scop Kenton in 2008. He leaves his sister, Marion Kenton of Delray Beach, FL; daughters Lynne Kenton Capecelatro & her partner Ron Gallicano, Diane Kenton Flynn & her husband Gareth Flynn, all of New Rochelle, NY; grandson Jay Ward & his wife Lara Ward, great grandsons Graham & Brent Ward of Fairfield, CT; niece Caren Vestal of Milton, DE & nephew George Clark, Jr. of Cleveland, TN.
