George H. Archer, Sr., 81 of Mamaroneck, NY died on Thursday March 18 at White Plains Hospital. Mr. Archer was born on Christmas day in 1928 in White Plains, NY. He loved his Christmas birthday! He attended Harrison schools, Cathedral Preparatory Seminary and Iona College. He served in the U.S. Army 23rd Infantry Division during the Korean War and was very proud of his military service. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a 60 year member of the Harrison Council. He was retired from a career in the textile industry starting at J.P. Stevens & Co. and later with Archer, Baron, Sommer, McLaughlin, Inc. in New York City. He was also a member of Winged Foot Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf with his many friends.
George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Flynn Archer and their eight children: Peggy Archer of Tenafly, NJ, Sheila Bugniazet (Eddie) of Rye, NY, Joan Cunningham (Jack) of Greenwich, CT., George, Jr. (Tara) of Stamford, CT., Cynthia Savage (Jed) of Rye, NY., Nancy Macri (Vince) of Louisville, CO., Amy Filip (Marian) of Mamaroneck, NY, Carol Kuhne (Tom) of Boulder, CO. and 22 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother David and his wife Theresa of Sunset Beach, NC. He is predeceased by his parents George P. Archer and Mary Ellen Shea Archer and his sisters, Theresa Archer, Peg O’Meara and Dorothy Gasparrini.
The family will receive friends at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME,767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY on Sunday, March 21 from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 22 at 10:00 AM at The Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY. Interment will be at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye. Contributions to The Michael J.
