Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Emily Reynolds

Emily Grady Reynolds, a 40 year resident of Larchmont, died on September 11 at Riderwood in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was 79 and had emphysema. She was born in Ogdensburg, NY on July 14, 1931.

Mrs. Reynolds was a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA where she received a degree in Art History in 1953.A lifelong artist, she worked as an illustrator at Hallmark Greeting Cards in NYC before moving to Larchmont to raise her family in 1964.

Her years in Larchmont were animated by a commitment to causes for which she cared deeply including the peace movement, Democratic politics at a local and national level, the environment, the local foodbank and hospice care.She was a parishioner at St. Augustine’s Church. She also worked as an Admissions Officer for Hampshire College. These years were also marked by her deep and abiding friendships and love of travel. She particularly relished the summers on the St. Lawrence River, where she enjoyed the company of her family, friends and beloved cats.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William T. Reynolds. She is survived by her two children, Julia Reynolds Johnson of Chevy Chase, MD. and William Grady Reynolds of Washington, DC; four grandchildren, and a sister, Ann Doyle of Bethesda Maryland.
