JOSEPH T. DAY

Joseph T. Day, Local civic leader and long time resident of Larchmont passed away on February 11, 2006 in Port Orange , Fl. He was born in Larchmont on April 26, 1912. He attended St. Augustines and Mamaroneck Schools.

Early on, he worked for DuPont Industries and Chatsworth Oil Comp. He was also a salesman for Pella Windows. Joe was a seasoned musician who played percussion with the George Bell Band and performed from Manhattan to Maine.

Everyone who knew Joe will associate him with the Larchmont Lions Club, Where he was a member for 59 years. He served as District Governor from 1980-1982 and traveled extensively promoting its fellowship. He was a member of the Mamaroneck Elks for 45 and a dedicated volunteer for the Buick Classic Tournaments.

Joe was a loving and dedicated grandfather to Frank (Donna) Meeske of Matthews, NC, Bernadette (Frank) Terzigni of Wappingers Falls, NY, Joseph (Rose) Meeske of Port Orange, Fl. He was adored by his great grandchildren, Heather, Timothy “TJ”, Renee, Danielle, Brianna and Madeline. He will be sadly missed by nephew Bill Grunert and his wife Lee, niece Rosemary Sullivan and his sister in law Ruth McGrath. Joe was predeceased by his wives Bernadette Lynch and Florence Grunert, his daughter Josephine Day Meeske and grandson Timothy Meeske.

Visiting Friday, February 17, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass, Saturday, February 18, 10 am at Sts. John & Paul Church in Larchmont. Interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle. In lieu of flowers donations to Lions Club of Larchmont PO Box 105 Larchmont, NY 10538.
