DAN J. SMYTH
Dan J. Smyth of Mahopac, NY formerly of Village of Mamaroneck, NY
went to his rest peacefully and surrounded by family after a long battle
with cancer on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at his home. He was 63. Dan
was born on September 27, 1942 in Port Chester, NY.
Dan had a long and successful career as a Custodian Engineer for the
New York City Board of Education and was a proud member of Local
891 AFC-CIO. He served his country honorably in the US Navy aboard the
USS Forestall CV59 and belonged to American Legion Post 1088.
Dan was also a member of the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department -
Hook & Ladder Co. for 40 years. Known as “Chief“ to his comrades , he
served all ranks including Chief of the Department from 1982 to 1984.
He is also survived by his wife of 40 years, Antoinette (Toni), his
sisters; Maureen and her husband, Anthony Gruerio, and Charlotte
Jacobsen, his two sons; Dan and his wife, Christine, David and his
wife, Andrea, his two daughters; Heather and her husband, Michael
Cassese, Dawn and her husband, Rae Guadagnolo. Also known as “PopPop“,
he is survived by his three grandchildren; Shamus, Amanda and Ryan.
He was also predeceased by his parents, Marion and Daniel, and his
brothers; James and Charles and his brother-in-law, John Jacobsen.

Reposing at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 East Boston Post Road,
Mamaroneck, NY, on Saturday, December 17 and Sunday, December 18 from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass
of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 19 at 10 am at
Most Holy Trinity
Church located at 320 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. Interment -
Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
