EUGENE J. STAUDT

Eugene J. Staudt of Wilton, CT. and formerly of Larchmont, NY, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at Lenox Hill Hospital. Born in Bronx, NY on October 21, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Mary Reilly Staudt and the brother of the late John Staudt. He graduated from Chaminade High School, The New York Maritime Academy and Queens College.

During WW II he served as a Naval Officer in the Pacific. He married Margaret Catherine Ledwith in 1946 and they raised eleven children in Larchmont and Point Lookout, NY.

Mr. Staudt began a long career at Castro Convertible Corporation in 1948 and retired in 1993 as the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Staudt was an active member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Larchmont for forty years and more recently a member of Our Lady of Fatima in Wilton, CT. He was also a Knight of Malta.

Among his many interests, Mr. Staudt was an avid golfer and a member of Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle for many years. He enjoyed aviation, photography, model trains and computer technology and was also an accomplished basketball player in his youth, a championship archer, a football player and oarsman.

Mr. Staudt is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Peggy) of 59 years, and his sister Betty Bendernagel, his daughters Susan Riker and Mary Ellen Spitzfaden of New Canaan, CT, Kathleen Nickels of Moorestown, NJ, Margaret Sotil of New Rochelle, and Anne Marie Cowherd of Westport, CT. He is also survived by his sons John of Springfield, IL. James of Larchmont,NY, Thomas of Mamaroneck, Gerard of Norwalk,CT., Joseph of Point Lookout , NY and Eugene of Ridgefield, CT. He is also mourned by 29 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY with visitation scheduled for Monday, November 28 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine's Church in Larchmont. Mr. Staudt's family has requested that any donations be made to St. Augustine's Church.
