CHARLES C. DALY

Dr. Charles C. Daly, 86, retired professor of fine arts at the College of New Rochelle and WWII Veteran, died Tuesday at his home in Mamaroneck. Born in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Margaret McNamara Daly. He graduated from Pratt Institute of Technology and then served in World War II as a photographer with the U.S. Army's 189 1st Engineering Aviation Battalion in the China, Burma, India Theatre. He received his Masters and PhD from Teacher's College, Columbia University.

Over his long career as an educator, Dr. Daly taught at the College of New Rochelle, Columbia University and Pratt Institute. He retired in 1984 and had been active in the Local 90 of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1156 and the Mamaroneck Senior's Center. He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and generous man who, throughout his life, touched many people's lives. All who knew him were enriched.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis June, his children, Owen, Douglas, Christina Chatroo and Debby and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Kevin, Stephanie Daly and Alexander Chatroo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am, Saturday, November 26 at Holy Trinity Church, 320 East Post Road in Mamaroneck. Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, November 25 at the Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home, 767 East Post Road in Mamaroneck. In lieuof flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Ursuline Convent of Saint Theresa, 39 Willow Drive, New Rochelle.
