IGNATIUS JOSEPH COSTA

Ignatius Joseph Costa, MD, a longtime physician and a 40 year resident of Pelham Manor and New Rochelle, died peacefully at home on September 2, 2005. He was 98.

Dr. Costa was born in New York City on December 14, 1907. He graduated Fordham University in 1929 and earned his medical degree at Long Island College of Medicine (now the Downstate Medical School). He was a member of the American Medical Association, Bronx County Medical Society, a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, and the Pelham Country Club. Dr. Costa retired from private practice in 1978, having been on the surgical staff of Westchester Square Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital and Fordham Hospital.

He is survived by Kathleen Clemens of Larchmont, Laurie of E. Granby, CT, I. Joseph Jr. of West Palm Beach and Thomas of Los Angeles six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visiting will be Friday, September 9 from 9:00 am to 10:15 am at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle followed by a Mass at the adjoining Blessed Sacrament Church. www.LloydMaxcy.com
