MARGARET S. HUEPPER
Margaret S. Huepper, a devoted mother, grandmother
and sports fan passed away July 18, 2005 at the age of 91
from heart failure. Born September 28, 1913 in NYC to A. Burton
and Marion Wait Stark, she shortly thereafter moved to Larchmont,
New York where she lived for more than 75 years. On August
30, 1940 she married her late husband of 49 years, Francis
whom she met as a camp counselor on Shelter Island, NY, at
a ceremony at the Larchmont Shore Club and raised 3 children
in Larchmont.
She received her elementary and secondary education in the Mamaroneck School District and graduated
from Connecticut College in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In 1965 she became a certified Physical
Education Teacher. She was a regular substitute teacher in the Mamaroneck School System well into the
1980's.
She was a member of the Larchmont Presbyterian Church, and also the First Church of Christ in
Middletown, CT. She was very active in Larchmont recreational activities as a participant and
instructor. She is a past president of the Chatsworth Avenue School PTA, served as Flint Park Summer
Camp Director, and was an active tennis & badminton player. She also was active as a scout leader
and enjoyed duplicate bridge. She was a Yankee fan and an avid fan of her children and grandchildren
throughout their athletic endeavors.
She also resided in Guilford, CT; Heritage Commons in Middletown, CT, and in 2000 moved to the Gateway
in Poway, California. She lived with her son's family in San Diego since January 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Steven of Sanford NC, and Kenneth of San Diego; a daughter, Nancy of
Lindale TX; five grandchildren Jessica, Kelly, & Laura from CA, Greg in NC, and Jeff in GA and 3 great
grandchildren Kendall, Mason, and James; and brother Burton of Naples FL.
Family memorial services will be conducted in North Carolina and Poway, California.
