SALLY CAPLAN
Sally Caplan, a resident of Sarah Neuman Center in Mamaroneck, NY, died
June 12, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband, Sam Caplan, sister,
Ina Avadon, brother, William Stolnick, and daughter, Doris Werk.
Sally worked side-by-side with Sam almost her entire married life in
the toy industry including as an owner and operator of Sally's Toy &
Hobby Shop in the Bronx and Mt. Vernon. Working as representatives of
major toy companies, Sally and Sam traveled over one million miles
together to more than 70 countries. Sam lovingly held Sally's hand for
63 years of romantic marriage and
affectionately called her not his wife but his “life.“
Sally is survived
by her brother, Nat Stolnick, of Fort Lee, NJ; daughter, Constance Polin,
of Scarsdale, NY; son-in-law, Joseph Werk, of Spring Valley, NY; eight
grandchildren: Jane Polin, Susan Werk, Ellen Glassman and her husband,
Jeffrey, Larry Polin and his wife, Denise, Lloyd Werk and his wife,
June, Kenneth Polin and his wife, Cathy, Barry Werk and his wife, Bonnie,
and Theodore Polin and his wife, Eugenia; and ten great-grandchildren:
David, Steven, Rachel, Sophie, Jessica, Jeremy, Melissa, Laura, Shira,
and Samuel; all of whose birthdays and anniversaries Sally unfailingly
remembered.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy and generosity, please give a
little toy and big hug to a child.
