RITA C. MACKEN

Rita C. Macken, 90, a resident of Larchmont for over 80 years, died on May 5, 2005 at Bayberry Care Center in New Rochelle.

She was born to John Cullen and Ellen Killeen Cullen on July 4, 1914 in New York City and attended schools in Larchmont and graduated from Mamaroneck High School. In Sept. 1940 she married John S. Macken, at Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck. Her husband died in Jan., 1993. She was a long time parishioner of St. Augustine's Church, and worked as a secretary for the Village of Larchmont for many years.

She is survived by a daughter, Ellen Foley of Irvington, and a son, John S. Macken, Jr. of New Rochelle; six grandchildren, Carolyn Foley, Colin Foley and Christopher Foley and John S. Macken III, Gregory Macken and Virginia M. Macken. Also surviving her are three brothers: John Cullen of New Rochelle, Eugene Cullen of Pelham and Joseph Cullen of Conn., and two sisters: Gertrude Duff of Florida and Lenore Mast of Indiana. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Tiernan and her brother, Edward Cullen.

Visiting hours are 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 on Friday, May 6, followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 7, at St. Augustine's Church, Larchmont. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
