JAMES L. PORTELLA

James L. Portella, longtime resident of Mamaroneck, NY, died suddenly on Friday, March 25. Jim was born in the Bronx, New York and moved to Mamaroneck in 1965.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in Cu Chi, Vietnam. He started his career as an Auto Mechanic. Later he successfully operated his own business, Jim's MAC Tools. He subsequently changed careers and worked as the Head Window Clerk in the Harrison Post Office. He retired from that position in May 2004 after 24 years of service.

Jim was a classic car enthusiast and his prized possession was a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria. He won several trophies for his restoration of antique cars. He was also an avid fisherman and loved deep sea fishing at the New Jersey Shore. Jim was always willing to help people out. He will be sorely missed by the many people who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen M. Portella (nee Santoro), a brother, Alfred Portella, of Wappingers Falls, a sister Maria of the Bronx, NY. He was also a beloved uncle of numerous loving nieces and nephews.

A family mass was held at Holy Cross Church, Springfield, PA.
