EDITH AIDA HUMPHREYS
Edith Aida Humphreys, a longtime Mamaroneck
resident, died peacefully at home on the evening of December
25, 2004 at age 84. Born on February 12, 1920 in the Bronx to
John and Maria (Tomeo) Cobelli. Edith was raised and educated in
Yonkers.
n January 8, 1949, she married the late Joseph W. Humphreys, Sr.
at the Mamaroneck United Methodist Church, where she remained a
member. Edith was a member of the ILGWU and worked as a
seamstress in Mount Vernon for many years.
Cherished mother of
Joseph Humpreys, Jr., Carol Humphreys, Rosemary Finch and the
late Joanne Humphreys Lurken. Devoted grandmother to Maria
Campanelli, Linda Cappello, Karen Trabucco, Laura Finch, Donna
Klinkowize, Joanne and Mollie Lurken, Stephen Dakin, Katelyn
and Daniel Humphreys. Also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
Dear sister of Antoinette “Cele“ D'Aquanni and the late Daniel
and Edward Cobelli and Lydia DeMarco.
Edith was a loving person with a warm smile, who dedicated her
life to the happiness of her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation Wednesday, December 29 from 5-9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME,
767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck. Funeral Service Thursday,
December 30 at
10 am, at Mamaroneck United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Kensico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mamaroneck United Methodist Church.
