EILEEN ANN LYONS COLLINS
Eileen Ann Lyons Collins, 90, of Point Pleasant
Beach, passed November 6 at her daughter’s home surrounded by
her family. Mrs. Collins was born in Winnipeg, Canada. As a
young child, she moved to Staten Island, NY after the passing of
her mother, sisters and brother. She graduated from St. Peter’s
H.S. together with her brother, Father Timothy Lyons. Some of
her fondest memories were of playing varsity basketball and
skating.
As a young adult, she worked for Met Life, and during that time,
she met her future husband, of 62 years, Edward Collins.
Her proudest accomplishments were in the happiness and success of
her four children. After they had grown, Eileen worked for the
Board of Higher Education in NYC at Hunter College. She
volunteered to help the Sister’s of Charity at St. Vincent’s
Hospital in Greenwich Village, the YMCA, Immaculate Conception
School, and was instrumental in the fundraising efforts to build
Mater Christi H.S. in Astoria, NY.
Upon retirement, she moved with her husband to Pt. Pleasant
Beach, and was a communicant of St. Peter’s Parish for 22 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward G. Collins this past
August, and her brother, Father Timothy Lyons.
She is lovingly
survived by her sister, Catherine (Rudy) Bartoldus of
Purceville, VA and sisters-in-law: Gladys Lyons of Port Jefferson
Station, NY; Ruth Collins of Larchmont, NY, and Diane Collins
of Carmel, NY. She is the dear mother of sons: Edward (Elisa)
Collins of Cape Coral, FL and Timothy (Claudia) Collins of
Norwalk, CT; daughters: Elizabeth (Michael) Haigh of W. Babylon,
Long Island, NY and Eileen (Steve) Baglivio of Pt. Pleasant, NJ.
Proud Mom-Mom of Michael, Stephen and Timothy Haigh; Edward III,
Corey and Christopher Collins; Brendan and Kenan Collins; and,
Eileen III, Megan, Kerry and Christine Baglivio; and a new
great-grandmother to Michael Thomas Haigh III.
Viewing Tuesday, November 9 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at Van
Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Ave., Pt. Pleasant
Beach. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 10 at 11 am at St. Peter’s
Church, Pt. Pleasant Beach. Burial to follow at St. Anne’s
Cemetery, Wall, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
St. Peter’s School, 415 Atlantic Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ
