SELIG BUD NEUBARDT
Selig Bud Neubardt, 78, Westchester OBGYN and Birth Control Proponent. Selig Bud Neubardt,
MD, a prominent Obstetrician and Gynecologist in New Rochelle and Larchmont,
who was an early advocate of birth control and safe abortion, died of pneumonia on August
24 in White Plains. He was 78. Dr. Neubardt was a spirited proponent of quality
healthcare for all women and served on the Medical Board of Planned Parenthood of
Westchester. In addition to delivering thousands of babies in his obstetrical practice,
he was an Assistant Clinical professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
A prolific author on women’s health issues, Dr. Neubardt wrote a book for the general
audience, "A Concept of Contraception," articles for professional publications, as
well as articles for Cosmopolitan magazine on women’s health issues. For many years,
he contributed a monthly column to the Westchester Women’s News and appeared on radio
and television shows.
He graduated from Columbia College in 1948 and received his medical degree from
Syracuse College of Medicine in 1952 with membership in AOA, the national medical honor
society. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in Europe during World War II and earned a
Combat Infantry Badge.
Dr. Neubardt is survived by Saundra Neubardt, his wife of 49 years, a daughter,
Amanda Miller of Greenwich, CT and two sons, Seth of Greenwich, CT and Andrew of
White Plains, NY.
