REVEREND MONSIGNOR LAMONT R. HAMILTON
(December 3, 2003) Reverend Monsignor Lamont
R. Hamilton died December 3, 2003 at age 50. Born June 2,
1953 in Manhattan to Morris and Margaret E. (nee Coker) Hamilton,
he was ordained November 3, 1979 and was later named a Prelate
of Honor by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, November 25,
1999. He graduated from Fiorello LaGuardia HS for Music and
Arts and did his graduate studies at the Julliard School.
Rev. Msgr. Hamilton was an Associate Pastor at the Church
of Sts. Philip and James in the Bronx, Faculty Member at Cardinal
Spellman HS in the Bronx, Director of the Office of Black
Ministry for the Archdiocese of NY, Pastor of the Holy Rosary
Church in the Bronx, Associate Pastor for the Church of St.
John the Evangelist, White Plains, and currently Associate
Pastor at the Church of Sts. John and Paul in Larchmont. He
was also a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre. Survived by his loving
brother Duane Hamilton, many cherished aunts and uncles, devoted
cousins, and dearest friends the Shoemaker and Valentin families.
Visitation Saturday 7-9 pm, and Sunday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at
Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E Boston Post Road in
Mamaroneck (914-698-5968). He will lay in state at Sts. John
and Paul Church on Monday starting at 2 pm. This will conclude
with a Mass of the High Priest Monday night at 7:30 pm. All
are welcome to attend. The Mass of Christian burial will be
celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Egan, Archbishop of New
York, Tuesday 10:30 am at Sts. John and Paul Church followed
by an internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
