Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

William Henry Beecher

William Henry Beecher died on July 13, 2010 in Olympia, Washington, where he had lived for the past twenty-two years.

Mr. Beecher was born in Mamaroneck on October 20, 1924 to the late William R. and Catherine (O’Neill) Beecher. He was a WWII Navy veteran, and proudly served his country for 10 years. His naval service included the Sicily and Normandy invasions, as well as the Korean Conflict. He retired from New York telephone/AT&T in 1986.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Olympia and his sister Viola Beecher of Mamaroneck. A son Andrew, a daughter Amy and three grandchildren also survive. Interment was in Washington.
