Not only a tremendously accomplished and distinguished person but also a real gentleman, one of the world’s nicest guys, and a big fan of Larchmont. His passing saddens all who knew him–Judith Doolin Spikes, Larchmont Village Historian

A determined friend of nature with the ability to convey well the reasons for his determination, and a truly good man.

I remember well Wally’s old manual typewriter and his attention to detail while retyping the many revisions we made to write the original LWRP (local waterfront revitalization plan)for the Town of Mamaroneck and Village of Larchmont. It is the ‘Bible’ we use today to make local policy decisions at the CZM. He had strong feelings and ideas, but would always listen to other opinions. A true gentleman and friend to our community.
