Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS


In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Stephen Nickolas

Stephen Nickolas, a former resident of Mamaroneck, passed away on Friday October 9, 2009 at the age of 58. Mr. Nickolas was born in Port Chester, on May 5, 1951 to Filomena (Bova) and Costos Spanou. He resided in Mt. Vernon for the past 8 years. Mr. Nickolas married Patricia A. Yannantuono DeSalvo on September 7, 2007. He was a parishioner of St. Vito’s Church.

Besides his wife, Mr. Nickolas is survived by his three children; Stephen, Veronica, and Christopher, a sister Marie (Benjamin )Carducci, brother Michael (Michele) Nickolas, step daughters: Dawn (Christopher ) Warnock, and Lisa (John ) Porcello. Mr. Nickolas has an adoring niece, two nephews, nine great nieces and nephews, and three grandchildren: Jake and Kristie Rose Warnock and Matthew Porcello.

Mr. Nickolas retired from Con Edison after 35 years of service. He was an avid softball player and played for Yusi’s and Manny’s Equipment for many years. He was a certified official for women’s volleyball, basketball, and men’s football. He was a collector of valuable coins and loved the NY Yankees and in football the NY Giants. He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 11 from 5 to 9 PM and Monday, October 12 from 2 to 4, 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home.
