Salvatore DiFini died peacefully March 15, 2009 at his home in Pompano Beach, FL at the age of 91. Born to Gaetano and Teresa (Latteri) DiFini on December 16, 1917 in New York City.
Sal won a Golden Glove championship as a welterweight in the state of Florida. He served in the US Army during WWII and was in the 2nd wave of the D-Day invasion at Normandy. On October 18, 1952, he married Adeline Promuto. Sal owned and operated a tailor shop in Miami, FL and later joined his father and brothers in the family business of DiFini Originals, Inc. and DiFini Knitware, Ltd. manufacturing golf wear in the Bronx, NY.
During his life, he had a passion for horse racing and owned many trotters and pacers that ran at Monticello and Yonkers racetracks. He loved to play tennis and go dancing and was easily liked by many whom he encountered.
Sal his survived by his children Brenda (Bill) LaRoza and Thomas S. DiFini, a sister Mary and brother Joseph, both of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Adeline and a brother Charles.
