Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Salomea Kwartin Ashner

Salomea Kwartin Ashner, a resident of Larchmont for more than 65 years, died Saturday, April 24, 2010. She was 92 years old. Salomea was born on June 12, 1917 in Vienna, Austria and was the daughter of Zavel and Genia Kwartin. She was the devoted wife of the late Rudolph Ashner. Both she and her husband were founding members of the Larchmont Temple. Salomea also was the past President of the Haddash, an active member of the U.J.A. Federation and volunteered, taught and lectured in many local schools.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her cherished daughter Susan Lieberman and brother, Saul Kwartin. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Leon and Joan Ashner, her grandchildren Amy Lieberman and Jennifer (Seth) Moldow and her son-in-law Edward Lieberman. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Kwartin and many nieces and nephews.

A 12:00 p.m. funeral home chapel service will be held Monday, April 26 with the interment to follow in the Mt. Eden Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. GEORGE T. DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 14 Lecount Place New Rochelle, NY 10801; 914-632-0324.
