Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Rita (Nee Poccia) Hessert

 Rita (Nee Poccia) Hessert on January 17, 2011, at home in Harrison at age 78. Rita was born in Larchmont on July 20, 1932 to Oreste and Alisa (nee DeLitta) Poccia. Rita’s work career began at age 19 with Frito Lays in Mamaroneck and lastly as a secretary for Mieghan & Necarsulmer Esq.

She was also well known as a professional ballroom dance teacher for 30 years. She was active in her community, a member of the Columbiettes, a member of the choir of St. Vito’s and Most Holy Trinity, where she taught religious education; and she was the secretary of her co-op board.

Cherished mother of Raymond J. (wife Debbie), Victoria (husband John) Graboski and Julia (husband Vincent) Crupi, loving sister of Gloria Pritts and the late Anthony Poccia, Oreste Poccia Jr., Lucy Rigano and Victoria Cusack. Devoted grandmother of Charles and Timothy Hessert, Lee Graboski, and Joseph and Jason Crupi. Also survived by former spouse Edmond J. Hessert and long time companion Vincent Ianiello.

Reposing on Wednesday, January 19 from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday, January 20 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home, 767 East Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, . Funeral Mass Friday, January 21 at 10 a.m at Most Holy Trinity R.C. Church, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the religious education program at Most Holy Trinity will be appreciated.
