Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS


In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Richard James Reed Sr.

Richard James Reed Sr., of Mamaroneck, died January 26, 2010 at age 73. Richard was born on September 19, 1936 in Long Beach, NY to George S. & Ethel M. Reed. He served in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command and was an Engineer for Grumman Aerospace. Later he became the sole proprietor of Richard’s Cruises in Mamaroneck.

Richard, together with his wife, Mary cared deeply about the Mamaroneck community and were great contributors to its quality of life. Richard is remembered as a self-sacrificing man who cared greatly for his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary (Weiss) Reed, loving sons, William Reed and his partner James, and Richard Reed and his wife Valerie, cherished grandchildren, Harrison & Olivia, dear brothers Peter Reed & Paul Reed, and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation Thursday, January 28 from 7 to 9 PM and Friday, January 29 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E.
