Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Ralph Wright Robins

Ralph Wright Robins, a Mamaroneck resident, peacefully passed away at the Port Chester Nursing Home on August 8, 2010 at the age of 97.

Mr. Robins was a member of the Village of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department, Hook & Ladder Company since 1938. He served as Chief of the Department in 1959. He was also a life member of the N.Y. Association of Fire Chiefs, the Fire Chiefs Emergency Plan, the Fireman’s Association State of N.Y., and the Old Timer’s Association of Mamaroneck.

Mr. Robins was born on January 13, 1913 on Orienta Point in Mamaroneck to Ralph & Marie Robins. He attended the Mamaroneck Schools and worked for the Ward Leonard Electric during WWII. He was a Partner with the Aitchison and Robins Tree Company from 1946-1959 and then worked as Foreman of the Town of Mamaroneck Parks Department until his retirement in 1983.

Mr. Robins was married to Lilli “Lee” Karen (Madsen) Robins on August 11, 1940. She passed away on January 7, 1988. He is survived by his sons, Philip M. of Greenwich and Peter W. (wife Mary Ann) of Sarasota, FL, four grandsons, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday, August 12 fromĀ 2-4 & 7-9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck (914-6985968), where a funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13 at 10 am. Interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Village of Mamaroneck Volunteer Fire Department, Hook & Ladder Co. or the Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester in Mr. Ralph W. Robins’ name.
