Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Mary N. Swanko

Mary N. Swanko of Monroe, GA and former longtime resident of Mamaroneck passed away on February 27, 2011at the age of 93. Born December 26, 1917 in Fairmont, WV to the late Nicolo and Filomenia Giorgio.

Locally Mary worked as a waitress at several local restaurants in Mamaroneck and Larchmont including the former Benny’s Restaurant, she was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church as well as St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Monroe, GA and also a member of the Columbiettes and Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her three children, Faith Harriot (John) of Monroe, GA, John Swanko (Cheryl) of Bolivia, NC, William Swanko (Allison) of Mount Kisco, NY, one brother Joseph Giorgio of Wappingers Falls, NY as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband John Swanko in 1984,her son Thomas Swanko and one sister Louise Giorgio.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 6 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM on Monday, March 7 at Most Holy Trinity Church, Mamaroneck, NY. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rye Brook. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Town of Mamaroneck Senior Center, 740 W. Boston Post Rd., Mamaroneck, NY 10543.
