Marguerite Renee Krussman Cambere

Marguerite Renee Krussman Cambere, a former Rye and Larchmont resident, died August 26th at Stamford Hospital. Margo, as she was known, was born to Henriette de Percin and Leo Frederick Krussman on February 18th, 1917. Her Dad, Leo Krussman, was an original founder of Trifari Jewelry, one of the country’s leading manufacturers of high fashion jewelry. Her maternal grandparents were the Marquis and Marquisse de Percin de Montgaillard.

She spent her childhood between New Rochelle, where she was captain of the Tennis Team for Larchmont Shore Club, Martinique and Nantes, France. She graduated from The Ursuline School and subsequently graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY in 1939.

After her marriage to Edgar Cambere during World War II, they eventually settled in Barrington, RI then Larchmont NY. During the Larchmont years, she was President of The New Rochelle League for Service and spent many happy years volunteering at New Rochelle Hospital. She was an active member of the Mothers Auxiliary of The Ursuline School, running many of their benefits. St Vincent’s Hospital also benefitted from her many years of service where Mrs. Cambere was a member of the Executive Board. She was a longtime member of Westchester Country Club.

After moving to Rye in the 1960′s, she retired with her husband to Lost Tree Village in North Palm Beach, Florida then to Pinehurst, North Carolina and later to Stamford, Connecticut to be closer to family. She shared an ongoing enthusiasm for golf and entertaining with her wonderful husband of 68 years, but it was her ongoing love for each member of her family and her strong faith that directed her life. She was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister and devoted member of the Legion of Mary. Her smile lit up a room and her warmth filled every heart that she touched.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele Flood and husband Robert of Rye, NY; her son Marc Cambere and wife Michele of Lake Mahopac, NY, six dear grandchildren, nine adored great grandchildren, sixteen very loved nieces and nephews, and countless cousins.

Friends may visit Sunday evening, August 29 from 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection Church in Rye, NY on Monday, August 30th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME 1036 Boston Post Road Rye, NY 10580 914-967-0129
