Joe was born in the Bronx in 1908. He became a bond trader in Manhattan and advanced to Senior V.P. at R.W. Pressprich & Co., where he worked for 45 years.
He and his beloved wife Alice moved to Larchmont in 1943. Their family grew to 7 children, 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In 1967, he was Chairman of the Larchmont Republican Committee. In 1969, he was appointed to the Town Council, and elected in 1970, serving until 1976. He was then elected Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck in 1976, and stepped down in 1979. During his tenure he was influential in flood control, expanding playing fields, sharing services with the Village of Larchmont, and rent control.
Joe was a volunteer fireman in the Larchmont, and honorary Chief of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department. In 1980, he received an honorary diploma from Mamaroneck High School. In his retirement, he continued in community service with the Larchmont Manor Park Society, Friends of the Reservoir, and WARC. Faith was his foundation. Joe was a daily communicant at St. Augustine’s Church, serving as a trustee, and on the Parish Council. He was a founding member of the local Knights of Columbus, a frequent lector and possibly the world’s oldest altar boy.
