Joseph P. Bohan, Jr., died on January 28, 2011 after a valiant four-year battle with cancer. Mr. Bohan was an attorney for 51 years with the law firm of Bohan, Trask, Bohan & Winter with offices in New York City and later, starting in the early 1970′s in Larchmont. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on October 11, 1932 to Margaret Moran and Joseph P. Bohan. After graduating from Fordham College in 1954, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years, and then went on to study at Fordham Law School where he received the Trusts and Estate Award in 1959.
He married Mary Catherine Quinn on June 28,1958. Mr. Bohan was a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York, the Larchmont Rotary Club of which he was a past president, the Larchmont Yacht Club, and the University Club of Larchmont. He served on the Larchmont Zoning Board for over twenty years, including as its chairman. He enjoyed many years of sailing out of Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club, as well as Larchmont Yacht Club where he was an active member of the cruising squadron. He was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church for over 45 years.
Mr. Bohan is survived by his wife, his children Joseph III of Rye Brook, Daniel of New York City, Kerry Morton of Georgetown, MA, Justin of Briarcliff Manor, and grandchildren Quinn, Aidan, Ryan, and Connor Bohan. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 31 at the Fox Funeral Home from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A Mass celebrating Mr. Bohan’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 1 at St. Augustine’s Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Joseph P. Bohan, Jr.
