Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Jessie Tynan

Jessie Tynan, a lifetime resident of Larchmont, passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd after a short illness. She was 94. She was born September 15th, 1915 in Larchmont to Robert and Pearl Hamilton. She married John Tynan on May 20th 1936. He predeceased her in 1985.

Jesse was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Larchmont Post #347, serving as its president for 4 years in the 1970′s. She worked for 15 years for Don Master’s Jewelers.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara O’Connor of Larchmont; three grandchildren, Cathleen Ferguson (Rich) of Mamaroneck, Robert O’Connor (Lori) of Larchmont, and Doreen O’Connor of Punta Gorda, FL; nine Great-Grandchildren: Shawn, Tim, Kaitlyn, Kelly, Carey, Shane, Elizabeth, Connor, and Tristian; and her sister Mildred Orsino. She was predeceased by her brothers George and Harold Hamilton.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, September 25th at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. Interment will be Saturday 10 am at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Larchmont Post #347.
