Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS


In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Jane Ann Reynolds

Jane Ann Reynolds (née Cunniffe), a lifetime resident of Larchmont, NY, passed away on March 20, 2009 at the age of 54. She was born to John and Jane Cunniffe in New York City in February 1955. She graduated from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle and attended the College of the Holy Cross, before receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Economics from the College of New Rochelle in 1977. Jane later received her Master of Arts in Art Education from the College of New Rochelle in 1988.

Jane dedicated her life to education, teaching at the Resurrection School in Rye, NY and Sts. John & Paul School in Larchmont, NY before moving on as an art teacher at Columbus Magnet School in New Rochelle, NY, where she has worked for the past 22 years. Jane spent her summers teaching art at Camp Pelican in Greenwich, CT and then at the Hoff Barthelson School of Music in Scarsdale, NY. As a highlight to her teaching career, Jane received numerous grants to fund special art outreach programs to encourage participation and education in the arts for children in the local community.

Mother of two daughters, Erin Reynolds and Kimberly Reynolds Benedicto of Larchmont, NY, she devoted her life to her family. While raising her daughters, Jane was active in girl scouts and coaching with the Larchmont Junior Soccer League and was a constant fixture at the girls’ academic, music, and sporting events.

Jane enjoyed sailing, skiing, tennis, and spending time with her dogs Sidney and Jamie. She was a cherished teacher, mother, and friend.

Jane is survived by her daughters Erin and Kimberly, her son-in-law Antonio Benedicto, her nieces Joellen Hornig and Barbara Trudel, her brother-in-law David Hornig, as well as countless relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Jane Cunniffe and her sisters Joanne Cunniffe and Barbara Hornig.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in memory of Jane Reynolds to Swim Across America at PO Box 217, Larchmont, NY 10538.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 25, from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont, NY. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 AM at Sts. John & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Larchmont, NY.
