Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

James S. Kirby, Jr

James S. Kirby, Jr, son of the late James S. Kirby, Sr and Francis (nee Laskey) Kirby of Holyoke, MA, was born July 7, 1938 and died on February 27, 2010. Formally of Larchmont, NY and 1956 graduate of New Rochelle High School where he began his career in radio commercial production and advertising. 1960 graduate of Fordham University. Part of a popular New Rochelle trio harmonizing as The Beechmonts and later while in the US army stationed in Germany joined the signing comedy group The Yesteryears.

He leaves behind his sister Jeanne S. Murphy of Westfield, MA. and formally of Larchmont, NY and her children Gerard (Jeep) Murphy, Maura (Missy) Murphy, and Kathy (nee Murphy) Tremblay. Jim will be reunited in heaven with his sister Frances E. (nee Kirby) Colangelo and her husband Bud Vincent Colangelo; brother-in-law Gerard (Jerry) Murphy, and nephew Tom Murphy. He leaves behind nephew James Colangelo, and nieces Louise (nee Colangelo) Doria, Linda (nee Colangelo) Miller, all formally of Mamaroneck, NY.
