Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Hattie Diamond Gilman

Hattie Diamond Gilman, 101, of Larchmont, NY/Palm Beach, FL, passed away Saturday August 22, 2009 at Sound Shore Hospital in New Rochelle, NY. Hattie was born on June 8, 1908 in New York City to Henry and Leah Diamond. On September 28, 1929 she married Robert L. Gilman in New York City, who pre-deceased her in 1991.

A resident of Larchmont for 70 years, Hattie was a member of Temple Israel of New Rochelle for many years. She was also a member of Beach Point, Old Oaks, the Breakers Beach Club and the Palm Beach Country Club.

Hattie is survived by one son, David Gilman of N. Palm Beach, FL; one daughter, Joan Sobel Gilman of Larchmont; three grandchildren; Donald Henry Gilman, Leanne Tripp and John Kennedy Gilman. Also surviving Hattie are two great grandsons; Stephan Grandjean and Ian Grandjean.

A cryptside service will be held on August 25, 2009 at 11:30am at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Temple Israel of New Rochelle or Hospice of Westchester. Arrangements are being handled by George T. Davis Funeral Home in New Rochelle.
