Gail DiBuono, a long-time resident of Larchmont, passed away June 24, 2010, at Calvary Hospital. Gail died after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving family and friends by her side. One of four children, Gail was born in New York City and was raised in Pelham Manor, NY, by her parents the late, Miles and Ruth Seymour Gibbons.
Gail attended Pelham Schools, Eden Hall and the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Torresdale, PA and continued her education at the College of our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains. Gail met the love of her life and future husband, the late Joseph DiBuono and married on September 10, 1955. Gail and Joe settled down on Nassau Road in Larchmont in 1963 and began their wonderful life together. Gail was a long time parishioner of Saint Augustine’s Church, active in the Saint Augustine’s Ladies Auxiliary and Seniors, and the Larchmont Women’s Club. Gail was known for her devout faith, her love of our country and her selflessness and kind nature.
Gail is survived by her children Joseph DiBuono, Jr. (Veronique) of Stamford, CT, daughter-in-law Ann O’Neil of Hillsdale, NY, Mark DiBuono of Larchmont, NY, Jim DiBuono (Iraci) of Larchmont, NY, Eden Bird (Dan) of New Rochelle, NY, Dennis DiBuono (Mary) of New Rochelle, NY, Sheila Cabano (David) of Greenwich, CT, sisterin-law Joan Godfrey (Arthur) and nephew A.J. Godfrey, cousin Joyce Casey Barrett of Wayne, PA and the Vandenberg Family. Gail was blessed with 13 Grandchildren, Julia Wunderlich (Kurt), Gabrielle DiBuono, Alexandra DiBuono, Vivian DiBuono, Devon DiBuono, Mary Gail DiBuono, Kari Bird, Marisa Bird, Emmanuelle DiBuono, Joann DiBuono, Catherine Cabano, Sophie Bird and Anna Bird. Gail is predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2004, son Brendan in 2001 and her siblings Sheila, Miles and Nallin Gibbons.
Reposing Friday, June 25, 2010 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Fox Funeral Home, 2080 Boston Post Road, Larchmont, NY. Requiem Mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Church on Saturday, June 26 at 10 am. Interment immediately following at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY. The Family is donating in Gail’s honor to Cavalry Hospital, 1750 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
