Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Eda Lanza

Eda Lanza 91, a Mamaroneck resident died peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Eda was born in the Bronx, NY on January 21, 1918 to Salvatore and Concetta Bellom. She was the devoted wife of Emil Lanza, who predeceased her.

Eda worked for the Village of Mamaroneck as Deputy Clerk Treasurer. She was a member of the Women’s Club and the Columbietts. She was also a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program for several years. Eda was a devout parishioner of St. Vito’s Church.

Eda is survived by her loving children, Joe (MaryAnn) and Jim (Jill) and her beloved grandchildren, Kristin, Josh, James, (Mary), and Jacqueline. Her great granddaughter Margaret also survives her. Eda is predeceased by her loving sister, Angela Pirrone.

Viewing will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O’NeillLanza Funeral Home, 422 East Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vito’s Church on Saturday, August 29th at 10:00 AM followed by Interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as Eda was a 45 year breast cancer survivor.
