Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Douglas Clark MacDonald

Douglas Clark MacDonald, a lifelong resident of Mamaroneck, died peacefully July 24, 2010 at age 76 after a brief period of failing health. A graduate of Mamaroneck High School and the University of Vermont, courtesy of the GI Bill, he served in the Army and spent much of his career in real estate sales and appraisals for Peter C. Doern Jr. Inc. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed his daily walks at Playland and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his children, Brian MacDonald and Karen DeSantis, their spouses Nancy and Joe, his brother Bill and sister Marcia Crisp, his five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. His wife Sandra MacDonald predeceased him in December 2009. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his warmth, empathy and his love for his cottage in Canaan.

A memorial visitation will take place Wednesday, July 28 fromĀ 2-4 & 7-9 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME in Mamaroneck (914-698-5968) where a service will commence at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Mamaroneck Emergency Medical Services.
