Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Clara Poccia

Clara Poccia, a long time resident of Mamaroneck, NY, passed away peacefully in her home in Sparkill, NY on November 30, 2009. Formerly, Clara Zaccagnino; she was born in 1924 and raised as one of six sisters in Beacon, NY. At the age of 18, she married Loreto Poccia Jr., and moved to Mamaroneck. They were together for fifty-eight years until his death in 2001.

Claire is survived by her sons, Thomas Poccia and his wife Victoria, of Nyack, Daniel Poccia and his wife Lorrie, of Cortlandt Manor, and daughter Judy Ciarnella and her husband Tony of Stony Point. Clara’s gentle disposition will be remembered with love by her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is survived by three sisters, Rose Pollock, Heidi Urciuoli, and Mary Balerna and was predeceased by two sisters, Philomena and Esther, and by her beloved granddaughter, Lisa.

Visitation will be held at Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan, NY from 2-4 and 7-9pm on December 3rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be will be held at 10am on December 4th at St. John the Baptist Church in Piermont, followed by interment at Rockland Cemetery.
