Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Barney Joseph Foltman

Barney Joseph Foltman, 85 of Yarmouthport, formerly of Rye, New York peacefully passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010. He was born on February 1, 1925 in Amsterdam, New York to Barney and Anna (Raczowski) Foltman. He was one of twelve children.

Barney is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Suhr); his children Bonnie, Barney and his wife Beth, and Ursula plus his beloved grandchildren; Charlie, Meighan, Jessica, Lauren & Kristen.

From 1943 to 1946, Barney proudly served in the US Navy as an aviation machinist mate third class. He worked 36 years as a History and English teacher for the Mamaroneck school district, New York. He loved his family and his time on the Cape and he was an active member of the Elks club.

Visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 6th at Morris O’Conner & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St Pius X Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Burial with Military Honors will be at 1:15 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. A gathering after the burial will be held at Parish Life Center, St Pius X Church, Barbara Street starting at 3PM. Friends and family are invited to all events.
