Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Annette Cassidy Noe

Annette Cassidy Noe, local educator Annette Cassidy Noe, 89, a much-loved resident of Larchmont for over 50 years, died on April 27th. Mrs. Noe, a descendant of one of New York’s oldest Dutch families, was born and raised in New York City. She earned B.A. and M.S. degrees from Hunter College.

Mrs. Noe taught kindergarten in the Mamaroneck School District for 25 years, primarily at the Central School on Palmer Avenue but also at the Murray Avenue, Chatsworth Avenue and Mamaroneck Avenue elementary schools. Parents were known to say, “Can you think of anything more wonderful for a child starting on life’s educational journey than to have Annette Noe as his or her kindergarten teacher?”

Mrs. Noe was a member for 55 years of the Larchmont Women’s Club. She served as an officer of the Mamaroneck Teachers Association and as Legislative Coordinator for the Westchester Chapter of the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a founding member of the Larchmont Community Chorus, and was a member of the Larchmont Dance Club.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph D. Noe, by her daughters, Lorraine Bergkvist, Patrice Noe Ross and Pamela Noe, by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and by hundreds of happy kindergarten graduates in Larchmont, Mamaroneck, and beyond. Mrs. Noe was a resident of Timonium, Maryland at the time of her death.
