Gazette Ceases Publication: Donates Archives to LHS

In 2010, the Larchmont Gazette ceased publication. In 2011 the publishers donated all contents to the Larchmont Historical Society, which will continue to make the Gazette archives available online.

Washingtonville Housing Gala Raises $30K

Over 170 supporters gathered on May 6th to celebrate Washingtonville Housing Alliance’s 30th Anniversary and to honor Beverly Brewer-Villa, a founding member of the Mamaroneck-based organization that provides affordable rental housing and emergency rent assistance for area residents.

This gala event, held at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, opened with a performance by the Mamaroneck High School Jazz Band, directed by Tim Hooker. The band – and the audience, – had an experience of a lifetime when they were joined by renowned jazz trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis.

The event raised approximately $30,000 to support Washingtonville Housing Alliance’s general operations and programs.

Recognized for their long service were founding board members Beverly Brewer-Villa, Robert Barber, Jefferson Meighan, Runett Mitchell, and Shirley Romney. Among the attendees were Mamaroneck Mayor Norman Rosenblum, Larchmont Mayor Josh Mandell, State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, State Assemblyman George Latimer, Westchester County Legislator Judy Myers, and Town of Mamaroneck Supervisor Valerie O’Keeffe.
