MHS Students Jam For Sudan

The bands and the fans braved the cold – and later the dark – to perform and cheer at Jam for Sudan, a fundraiser hosted by the Mamaroneck High School chapter of STAND on May 7 to benefit the International Medical Corps, one of the humanitarian organizations still operating in Darfur. This was the fifth annual Jam hosted by the MHS STAND, part of an international group run entirely by students and dedicated to raising awareness of genocide.

Eleven bands were timed to take the outdoor stage at the high school every twelve minutes from 6-9 pm . The playbill was as diverse as the music: Metaphorical Gravy, After That, Funkapella, The SteinBro’s, The Sounds, Cytoplasm, Chef, Secondhand Kevin & The Garbagemen, The Force, Palmer Train and The Haze.

The students also took advantage of the picnic barbecue and  cool dessert donated by Rita’s Italian ices. Further funds were raised by selling t-shirts and raffle tickets for items donated by area merchants.

Are there any more Tee Shirts for sale? Where can we buy them? The fundraiser should still go on with the sale of Tee Shirts. Perhaps the Larchmont Gazette can sell them on the site as a fundraising effort for Sudan?

  • This is a great idea. We have plenty of t-shirts left over. We would love to continue selling them if people are interested. We will speak to the Larchmont Gazette about helping us out.
