LMC Honors Assemblyman Latimer – With Lots of Laughs

The audience thought they’d die laughing, that’s how funny some of the jokes were at LMC-TV’s Twentieth Annual Award Night at the Emelin Theater on Monday, May 17.  It’s also the title of the comic novel (Die Laughing) written by Award Night Host Vincent Graziano, who moonlights as the director of Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck.

“I’m a little nervous,” quipped Mr. Graziano, “I’m not used to performing for a live audience,” and the crowd cracked up.

An indie rock band, The Kezners, added to the levity with off-beat drum rolls – “rim shots” – punctuating and promoting Mr. Graziano’s banter.

With doors set to open at 7 pm, the LMC-TV hosts weren’t laughing at 6:45pm when the honoree, NYS Assemblyman George Latimer, had yet to appear. He was “tooling down” from Albany and had to contend with unpredictable I-87 traffic. But the assemblyman made it through as the house was filling up.

George Latimer received the Mary Anne Sullivan Award for overall achievement in community television.  He has appeared 167 times on LMC-TV (Award Night made it 168) and has been a perennial supporter of public access television. As a Westchester County legislator, he promoted the televising of his board’s legislative meetings. The award is named for Mary Anne Sullivan, a founding member of LMC-TV. (Other award winners are named below.)

All told over 104 ticket holders filled the Emelin theater joined by over 30 LMC-TV staff, crew and volunteers.

“The best Award Night yet!” commented Lake Charles, wife of LMC-TV board member Michael Charles.
