Firefighters On Skates Raise $48K For Local Family

“Friday went fantastic,” said Mamaroneck Town Fire Chief Sean McCarthy reporting on the outcome of the April 16 Fire on Ice hockey game between his department and the Village of Mamaroneck’s.

“The Town of Mamaroneck won, which I’m happy to say, but the real reason we were there was to raise funds for a great cause – which we did.”

The score was 9-3; and the amount raised was $48,000, which will benefit the family of Richard Rasor, who died suddenly on March 30, leaving four young children. “We exceeded all of our expectations,” said Chief McCarthy.

The chief estimates around 500 people attended the game. He said, “A lot of the success of the event was due to various organizations that contributed, including the Junior League of Westchester on the Sound, that organized the silent auction, and the Mamaroneck Youth Hockey League – as well as several friends of the Rasor Family.”
