I wish to congratulate Larchmont in having Jane Elkind Eney as a candidate for Trustee. Her dedication and brilliance will bring a fresh look at all of our Westchester government problems.

We all owe Liz a debt of gratitude for her tireless efforts on behalf of Larchmont. She has been a voice for fiscal responsibility and an advocate for every resident in town. She understands what governing by consensus can accomplish and was not shy to challenge those who would put their personal interests above the village. We take for granted the fact that the mayor’s office is unpaid and comes with substantial responsibility and stress. Liz has performed her mayoral duties with grace, intelligence, patience and thankfully, humor. She will be a tough act to follow.

I share the same sentiments as the commenters above. Here’s hoping Ms. Feld can set an example and lower taxes for the Village of Larchmont (as the new Westchester County Executive promised to do). The only way to get property taxes under control is for all taxing authorities to lower taxes: County, Town, Village, School.

While congratulations to Josh are due for his nomination and I have every confidence in his ability, I am sad to see Mayor Feld leaving her post. I have found her to be a wonderfully effective and tenacious leader, a tireless advocate for local residents, and fiscally savvy. She will be missed. I wish her the best of luck in whatever comes next.

Liz Feld is a true class act and the people of Larchmont benefited tremendously from her public service. She will leave behind a remarkable legacy not only in her accomplishments, but in her approach to governing.
