Diamond Buddies battled back, but the Tigers never relinquished the lead. The final score was 11-10, Tigers.
“We could not have won this tournament without a strong pitching staff, timely hitting, aggressive base running and solid fielding,” said one Tiger coach, Steve Muratore.
“I’m so proud of our pitchers, Jason Kriences, Ryan Schudy, Ryan Wolfson, Matt Garcia, Jakob Calvini, Sam Bauman and Tom Muratore, for taking the ball and pitching with composure,” said another Tiger coach, John Bositz.
Jakob Calvini had a great tournament, with 10 hits in 12 official at-bats, including 2 home runs. Corey Eisenband made some spectacular catches in the outfield thwarting potential threats from the opposition. Andrew Gross, Michael Chasin and Zach D’Alba also made significant contributions with their fielding, hitting and base running.
“We’re firing on all cylinders right now, playing great baseball,”added Coach Muratore. “This is just the beginning of a summer filled with league and tournament play.”
