Retired teacher Barbara Friedrich’s hands-on, educational cider pressing demonstration is sure to grab the attention of kids and adults alike! Barbara, who will be giving the demonstrations at the Larchmont Farmers’ Market on October 10 from 10am to Noon with her husband Bill Friedrich, sees cider pressing as an outreach program, to encourage appreciation for both the fruits available locally, and the long lost pressing process.
The Friedrich’s apple press is a replica of hand-presses that were used before cider processing became mechanized. Through their demonstration on how to produce fresh, delicious apple cider from local farmers’ market apples, the Friedrich’s will provide shoppers with a captivating history lesson!
The Larchmont Farmers Market is located at the Metro North lot off Chatsworth Avenue and is held Saturdays through December 20 from 830am to 2pm.
