ABIGAIL HENDEL & GUY LEVY
(December 15, 2005) Abigail Sarah Hendel, the daughter of Ruth Hendel and Stephen M. Hendel of Larchmont, N.Y., was married on December 3 to Guy Bezalel Levy, the son of Suzanne Levy and Dr. Rubi Levy of Brushton, N.Y. Rabbi Jeffrey Segelman of the Westchester Jewish Center in Mamaroneck conducted the ceremony at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. The bridegroom's uncle and cousin, Cantors Chaim and Daniel Najman, assisted.
The bride, 27, graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1995. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and law degree from New York University. She is an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, the New York law firm.
The bridegroom, 24, graduated from Yale summa cum laude in 2002 and is an investment analyst specializing in the industrial and energy sectors at Shumway Capital Partners, a hedge fund in Greenwich, Conn. The couple is living in New York City.
The bride's father is founder and a managing director of the Hess Energy
Trading Company in New York, an affiliate of Amerada Hess, the oil company. Her
mother is a producer of Broadway and Off-Broadway theater, including the current
production of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and the upcoming production of "Barefoot
in the Park." Her earlier theater successes include "The Exonerated," "Metamorphoses,"
and the 2004 Broadway revival of "
Raisin in the Sun." (See: Tony Nominees.) The Hendels have lived in Larchmont for 20 years.
The bridegroom's father, originally of Tiberias, Israel, is an obstetrician-gynecologist
in Malone, N.Y. His mother is the financial manager of Dr. Levy's medical practice.
The couple first met as undergraduates at Yale, when Abigail was a senior advisor and Guy a freshman in the same residential college. Following Abigail's graduation, the two lost contact until the spring of 2003, when they re-met at a party on the Upper West Side.
