What a surprise to read in LoHud http://soundshore.lohudblogs.com/ (dated 3/16/10) that the current Super for Hastings on Hudson (the town featured in the NYT recently as reeling from school spending www.nytimes.com/2010/03/11/nyregion/11towns.html and bordering on taxpayer revolt) is a finalist for M'neck. Now we're talking about change and different style of leadership.

Mr Shaps made 235k this year, according to www.seethroughny.net, so the good news is that he "may" work only for Dr Fried's current salary. And he has superintended before, unlike some.

LOL - Please tell that to the millions of Credit Card holders in American too, my friend!

They should take a lesson from Pete Seeger's words of advice -as the credit card companies wrote the BOOK on deception thru fine print and the consumer has had more than enough experience with what you get when you don't. The book is entitled "Strategies and tactics on fooling the consumer..."

Washington are you listening??! Washington, can you hear us???Earth to Washington, come in please????!!!

Wondering why the "small advisory committee" only includes one parent given the strong negative feelings expressed in the community regarding the budget cuts and teacher's contract, as well as the Princeton Plan, busing the elementary school children to other schools in the district. this is antoher example where the Board and the Superintendent operate regardless of community sentiment.

Let us hope that any new superintendent for the school district is not given a contract which limits the district as much as it seems the district is limited by the contract with its teaching staff; and let us hope that the compensation any such contract provides is tied to measurable performance.

As Pete Seeger said, <i>'Do you know the difference between education and experience? Education is when you read the fine print; experience is what you get when you don't.'</i>
