School Board Selects 3 Semi-Finalists for Superintendent

On behalf of the School Board, I am pleased to report that the search for Mamaroneck’s next superintendent is going well. There was a very good response to our ads and to our consultants’ aggressive recruiting efforts. In total, over fifty potential candidates, representing ten states, applied or were actively recruited by Dr. Bruce Dennis and Ms. Debbie Raizes. This past weekend, the Board interviewed a very strong slate of six candidates and has narrowed its search to three semi-finalists, all sitting superintendents.

We will be forming a small advisory committee to meet with the finalist(s), which will include teacher, administrator, parent and Central office representatives. This advisory committee will assist by providing us with feedback in terms of the candidates’ strengths as well as any questions or concerns they may have.

The search is proceeding according to the timetable that the Board and our consultants initially agreed to in the fall. We will keep you informed as the search progresses.

Best regards,

Linnet Tse
President, Mamaroneck School Board

Let us hope that any new superintendent for the school district is not given a contract which limits the district as much as it seems the district is limited by the contract with its teaching staff; and let us hope that the compensation any such contract provides is tied to measurable performance.

As Pete Seeger said, ‘Do you know the difference between education and experience? Education is when you read the fine print; experience is what you get when you don’t.’

LOL – Please tell that to the millions of Credit Card holders in American too, my friend!

They should take a lesson from Pete Seeger’s words of advice -as the credit card companies wrote the BOOK on deception thru fine print and the consumer has had more than enough experience with what you get when you don’t. The book is entitled “Strategies and tactics on fooling the consumer…”

Washington are you listening??! Washington, can you hear us???Earth to Washington, come in please????!!!

  • Super-Intendent?

Wondering why the “small advisory committee” only includes one parent given the strong negative feelings expressed in the community regarding the budget cuts and teacher’s contract, as well as the Princeton Plan, busing the elementary school children to other schools in the district. this is antoher example where the Board and the Superintendent operate regardless of community sentiment.
