SOUNDETTES

• the group's camaraderie, which bridges multiple generations;
• the joy of singing together to brighten other people's lives;
• the sharing of musical memories with older adults during performances at the senior centers;
• the joining of hands and hearts with seniors to evoke smiles and to lift spirits all around.

WHO: Women over the age of 21 who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to learning music and participating in the weekly troupings (singing performances) are invited to audition. The Soundettes offer continuing opportunities for members to sharpen their musical skills.

WHAT: Musical selections , which are chosen by the group, arranged SSAA and performed a cappella, include spirituals, pop and doowop, blues, oldies, show tunes, pleasing contemporary pieces, and, during December, holiday favorites.

WHERE: Senior day care centers, nursing homes, hospitals and senior citizen centers throughout Sound Shore area, and special events at other community venues.

WHEN: Wednesdays during the academic year (Sept. through May), except school holidays, from noon to 2:45 pm.

The Soundettes are grateful to the Junior League Of Westchestser on the Sound who has continued to support the group since its inception more than 60 years ago.
