Bags of food distributed to needy people from the Community Action Program (CAP) Center and home delivery service to incapacitated residents.
Who: All ages. Food recipients need to be verified as local residents whose income is at or below 185% of the Federal poverty line. Referral forms can be approved by social workers, doctors, clergymen. Applicants are interviewed and documentation is required to prove identity, number in family, circumstances and current address. Referral forms in English or Spanish are provided, to be filled in by the person who gives the referral, signed by the applicant and then returned. Referrals are required annually.
When: Distribution is the 2nd and 4th weeks of each month on: Tuesday, 7 am - 9 pm and Wednesday, 10 am - 11:30 am. Home delivery to incapacitated residents is on Wednesday only.
Where: Distribution is from Community Action Program Center (698-7140), 134 Center Ave., Mamaroneck.
Cost: No fee.
Additional Information:
- Translation of information into German, Italian, French and Spanish is usually available at distribution times.
- ELM (Employment - Larchmont/Mamaroneck), a job training and placement service, is recent spinoff from the Task Force.
